Open Forum:
· Megan Dockerty mentioned that NHS students must have their 30 hours of community service completed by May 15th.
· Ms. Agatic advised there are now 40 students in the ESOL club. Mr. Bohnet questioned how many students in the ESOL program at this time. Ms. Agatic said the numbers do change but right now there are 73. The size of the program this year has grown at Dixie. This year Dixie had to hire another ESOL teacher to help with the growth.
· Mr. Freshley thanked Mr. Bohnet on behalf of himself and Ms. Zavadil for allowing the field trip to MOSI. It was a big success.
· Ms. Miller advised that at the JROTC Drill Meet on Saturday Dixie took 5th Place trophy for the Female Armed Battalion.
· The Social Studies History Fair had two groups of 8 or 9 students that placed 1st and 3rd Place in the competition. Ms. Davis and Mr. Williams sponsored the students.
Open Forum
(continued):
· A new student at Dixie Hollins, Vanessa Quillao, has won the Walt Disney American Idol competition. This automatically gives her an invitation to American Idol. It was mentioned that she could perform at graduation this year. Mr. Bohnet said she would have to audition but certainly a possibility.
·
Mr. Bohnet advised there would be four
performances at graduation. Mr. Bohnet would speak, as well as students.
Mr. Bohnet feels strongly that graduation is about the students and that the students at Dixie have the opportunity to speak
as opposed to having guest speakers.
